How to Stay Aligned with Your Values While Achieving Your Goals

achieving goals with alignment

If you’re reading this blog post, chances are you are someone who has goals and ambitions and sees themselves living a certain lifestyle. But have you ever asked yourself if you are achieving goals with alignment to your true values and desires? We more often than not confuse our goals and desires, so we don’t actually understand why it is that we want something. For example, you might say, “I want to be rich.” But why? Some people want wealth to retire their parents, while others want it to travel or give back to their communities. Personally, I realised that my desire wasn’t about being rich. Instead, I wanted to create a soft life—a life with slow mornings, doing what I love with the people I care about, free from financial stress.

However, when I tried to achieve this, I found myself caught in the hustle culture trap, grinding so hard that I was going against the very lifestyle I wanted to create. Now, I’ve learned to strive toward my goals with alignment, and I feel closer to them than ever before.

What Does Achieving Goals with Alignment Really Mean?

Achieving your goals with alignment means understanding your true desires and pursuing them while maintaining your values.

In my case, I wanted to look after my parents and enjoy slow mornings without stressing about money. Sacrificing my mental and physical health to achieve this goal wouldn’t make sense. It wouldn’t align with the person I wanted to become, nor would it allow me to attract that lifestyle.

How Hustle Culture Disrupts Achieving Goals with Alignment

Hustle culture tells us to work hard or grind endlessly to reach our dreams. It emphasises success through achievements. While this mindset can drive temporary results, it has negative consequences.

  • Loss of Spiritual Connection
Hustle culture often distracts us from remembering God, who ultimately holds the power to guide us to success. Allah says in the Quran:

“And indeed We have created man, and We know whatever thoughts his inner self develops, and We are closer to him than (his) jugular vein.” (Quran 50:16)

True success lies in staying connected to Allah and remembering that He can make anything happen with a single command: “Be, and it is.” (Quran 36:82)

Hustle culture forces us into constant action, which aligns with masculine energy. For predominantly feminine women, this creates imbalance and exhaustion. Feminine energy thrives on “being” rather than constant “doing.”

Ask yourself: Does my future self need to sacrifice her peace to achieve her goals? Neglecting your body, relationships, or spiritual health for temporary accomplishments creates misalignment. It may leave you feeling unfulfilled.

Remember there are still other important things in life like your deen, your health and your relationships with those around you.

Use God to Stay Aligned While Achieving Your Goals

I’ll never be able to not mention how important it is that you look for God’s guidance in whatever journey in life you may be on. Allah is the one who has created you and is the one who knows what’s best for you. You will always be aligned if you follow God’s guidance.

It is super important that you follow his word and avoid doing what he has prohibited. When connected to Allah, you align with the ultimate source of wisdom.

    Allah says in the Quran:

And those who strive hard for Us, We shall most certainly guide them to our Ways.” [Al-Quran Surah 29: Verse 69]. So build your trust in him and he will guide you to stay on the right path to live in alignment.

    The Quran also narrates:

Whoever believes in Allah, He guides his heart.” [Al-Quran Surah 64: Verse 11].

Don’t ever forget our ultimate purpose in this life and that your lord and your maker will grant you success for as long as you connect to him and remain obedient with him, finding alignment will be a much easier journey. Take Self Development Gurus’ Advice In Moderation

When we are on our self development journey it’s like that we will indulge in a lot of self development content. However our core values may not always align. When this happens it’s important that we remember not to sacrifice our core values when taking their advice into account.

As a muslim girl I often hear advice that doesn’t align with my religion. I choose not to take that advice as pleasing God is far more important to me. However, there are still many valuable insights that they may have to offer. We must make sure that we are very careful with what content we choose to consume and we choose to actually use and apply it in our day to day life.

If you find it difficult to filter advice, it may be better to avoid content that doesn’t align with you all together. Sometimes over consuming this content can cause Self development overload. Overconsumption of self-development content can also lead to “self-development overload.” This is when consuming too much content causes confusion, lack of motivation, or misalignment. When you are aligned you can easily make quicker decisions because you know if this matches your values or not.

Take the time to think, am I truly achieving goals with alignment, and in what areas can I start to become more aligned in my life? As this has made positive impacts in the way I live my life and allows me to feel a lot more content and fulfilled Alhamdulillah (All praises are due to Allah).
